Johnny was my first inspiration. I met him in Los Gatos and heard
his share. That is where HOPE began. Everytime I met a stumbling
block in my program and in my life Johnny was the one I ran into. At
the bank, in a meeting. Always encouraging . I was there right after
his house burned down and he was going through a bad time. It was
definitely a God moment and he helped many young relapsers. I say we
should be always grateful for our angels of sobriety, I will always
remember his smile and love. I will surely miss him. I will continue
to pass it on.

was a wreck...and a spoiled brat. ....and I was afraid....I met John
at the Tuesday night St. LUKE'S Meeting..... he saw me come in with
a group of young guys from my SLE....he walked across the
room...Strait up to me and said welcome. .... we were fast friends
from that day forward.... I can with all honesty say that the reason
I've made it all these years is because of men and women like
Johnny.... he always had fatherly wisdom.....which I sorely
needed....but then we could sit at a meeting together like
brothers..... my heart is saddened by the loss....so many father's
and mothers have made the journey over....how can I ever stand up to
his and their example. ....Johnny got sober when I was born .....he
would always say that to me.....I picture him having coffee with my
sponcee John Carney. .... and I smile....god's speed my old friend.

Johnny, It was sincere pleasure to know you. You were a frequent
reminder of how much 12 step programs have evolved or devolved. I'm
hopeful that the next generation of "Long Timers" will reinforce
your message to stick to the principles as outlined in our Bigbook.
It's time to get "Back to the Basics".

Johnny has been my grand sponsor for almost 12yrs. I've only got to
know him better the last 3 ,,He had such a simple way of breaking
something down that I had made all complicated ,,,and he was big on
traditions ,keeping meeting safe.
